In January Veeam acquired N2WS Software, which provide cloud backup and disaster recovery solutions. One of the products N2WS has is Cloud Protection Manager. This product allows anyone using AWS to easily schedule automated backups and disaster recovery snapshots and have them distributed across availability zones and regions. Cloud Protection Manager supports the following targets: EC2 Instances Volumes RDS Databases Aurora Clusters Redshift Clusters DynamoDB Tables Cloud Protection Manager is deployed easily through an AMI in the AWS Marketplace. VMware announced today on the VMware blog site the release of version 9.1 of vCloud Director. This latest version is packed full of features and updates to help the ever growing VMware Cloud Provider Program deploy enterprise grade public cloud offerings. So whats key about this release? These are: HTML 5 Tenant and Administration Portal User Interface Extensibility Orchestration Services Python SDK and CLI Multi-Site View SR-IOV (Single-Root Input/output Virtualization) FIPS Mode Standalone VMRC For me this has been a milestone release personally. The last time I worked with vCloud Director was back in version 1.5, so being able to see how the HTML 5 UI has progressed since the awful days of the Flex UI is nice.
