VMware vCloud Air Australia will offer local vSphere customers the ability to build and extend the hybrid cloud in the local geography. Something they have been asking for for some time. VMware vCloud Air Microsoft Exchange and SRM
Over the past few months I have been working on a number of scenarios for VMware vCloud Air and deploying Microsoft Exchange in a Hybrid Cloud design. I have written a couple of blog articles about the subject too. VMware vCloud Air Microsoft Exchange The first one was about how you would deploy Microsoft Exchange in a hybrid cloud and at a high level how you would do this. Read the article here. The second article, I wrote for VMware blogs, which discusses the business reasons behind why you would actually want too, and this article can be read here. At a high level these are: • Growth – Speed – Agility – Expansion – Fluidity • Leverage Existing Infrastructure – Backups – Archiving • Disaster Recovery – Build a highly resilient messaging solution • Operational efficiency – SLAs from cloud In the first article, I talk about why you […]
VMworld vCloud Air sessions on YouTube
These have been made available back in September, but I wanted to share with everyone the two VMware VMworld vCloud Air sessions that have been posted on the internet. While I am out in Macau in Asia presenting Tech Summit quite a few people have asked how they can view the VMworld sessions without a VMworld account. VMworld publish the top 10 sessions of the day on YouTube, so if you couldn’t attend VMworld and don’t have an account, you can still watch the top 10 sessions. VMworld vCloud Air sessions The first one published is session HBC2068 – vCloud Air Networking Technical Deep Dive This is presented by Ninad Desai (Networking Product Manager) and myself. The Second Session is HBC1533 – How to build a Hybrid Cloud – Steps to extend your Data Center This is presented by Chris Colotti (Principal Technical Marketing Architect) and myself Eric Sloof has […]
IKEAHackers: Mac Book Air desktop stand
I wanted to share my latest find on IkeaHackers.net. After reading Frank Denneman’s post on his whiteboard desk, and discovering the Ikeahackers site, I actually like to see what idea’s people come up with for different uses of Ikea products. This post is about my latest find, an Apple Macbook Air desktop stand/holder. I have been looking for some kind of stand that I can use for my Air, after setting up a permanent desk in VMware’s Palo Alto office. This simple solution solved it, and for $1.99 it was an absolute bargain. Ikea sell a plastic (sturdy and strong) Napkin holder called Fantastisk. As you can see by the picture, it really does work, and looks cool too. For the full Ikea Hackers post click here
How to re-install TweetDeck on Mac
I never realised how much I rely on Tweetdeck until today when all my columns became corrupted and I could no longer receive tweets through it. I tried the usual delete the app etc, but this did not work, every time I re-installed, when it loaded it had the same problems! This was so frustrating. I even tried removing Adobe AIR with no success! In the end I managed to resolve the issue, by following the steps listed below. Delete TweetDeck.app from your application folder Delete any file or folder named TweetDeck under “home/Library/Preferences/TweetDeck” Re-install TweetDeck Quite easy really, but took me a while to find the TweetDeck preferences files. Please bear in mind that removing these files will delete any of your searches or saved columns. Not a big deal for me, but I know other people have hundreds….
