VMworld 2015 must see sessions
Wow! Its that time again already! (Although I am late publishing this)!! The VMworld 2015 content catalog has been released. Its going to be a busy one again for me this year for sure! VMworld is a great time to learn some really cool stuff, and I always check the schedule to see what sessions I find interesting, not just on cloud, but on virtualization in general. See the list below for my must see VMworld sessions. I also thought I would list out my sessions so that anyone wanting to come find out more about vCloud Air can easily find the sessions. Its going to be another awesome VMworld, and feel free to come and see me at the end of any sessioins. I am always available for a chat. Your box is still initialising Sky+ HD
So my Sky+ HD Box has stopped working. It was working fine, recording a program, then it just simply turned off and the TV receives no signal anymore. I tried all the obvious techniques. Unplugged the box, disconnected all the cables, reconnected all the cables, plugged the box back in, nothing. Same thing. The power light and WIFI light come on as expected, but nothing appears on the TV. After googling the issue for a while, I discovered that it was the fact that my planner was full. It was in the middle of a recording, and couldn’t delete anything, so simply hit 100% disk space and crashed. Ok, so how do I get the box on to delete a program? First thing I tried is to do a software update. This normally fixes 90% of the problems on a sky box and is really easy to do. The steps […]
Advanced Architecture Design for Cloud-Based Disaster Recovery
Working over in vCloud Air Tech Marketing, I have been focusing a lot on Cloud-Based Disaster Recovery. Recently I wrote a solution brief (Colotti started it, however I finished it) covering the advanced architecture required to implement a full Cloud-Based Disaster Recovery solution. This solution brief walks people through considerations around Authentication and DNS, leveraging data seeding for replication, and how to failback to your on-premises environment. Here is a sneak preview of some of the content from the Advanced Architecture Design for Cloud-Based Disaster Recovery Solution Brief: Conclusions Assuring continuity of applications and data through enterprise-grade Disaster Recovery practices is a prerequisite for any full-scale enterprise hybrid architecture using VMware vCloud Air or any cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service solution. The examples reviewed here extend the vCloud Air use cases to include Disaster Recovery in the cloud, with Clear, simplified setup and migration processes Multiple options to support the DR environment with […]
Error #1009 vSphere Web Client
Recently I have been having some issues with plugins while working in my lab. I recently wrote this article “Error 1063 vSphere Web Client” which documents how to disable selected plugins. This fixed worked for a little while, but recently I have started receving a similar error but with the Error #1009 vSphere Web Client. I tried the fix in my previous article again, however when I tried to go into the Client Plug-Ins area of the vSphere Web Client, I received the #1009 error everytime. The first thing I tried was to (obviously) Google the error, but I couldn’t find any resolution. A few people have experienced this error on the communities forum but no one had a fix for it. I phoned a friend in GSS, and they told me about an issue with cached objects that are stored in a SerenityDB folder. They aparantly have bad references […]
