Clarifying the confusion on the VMware Cloud Strategy
Now that VMworld is in full swing, I have had the opportunity to talk to a considerable amount of VMware Service Providers, Customers, and Cloud Consumers. Everyone has asked the question what does the AWS announcement mean for [Insert vCAN, vCA, IBM] as cloud providers. From a vCloud perspective, adding AWS into the mix is simply just another VMware operated cloud provider. VMware powers over 4200 service providers around the globe offering capabilities from Managed Services, Hosting and Cloud Services. Its coming! VMworld Barcelona is coming soon. So soon in fact it actually starts on Sunday. Wow, I can hardly believe it. Still feels like VMworld USA was last week. This will be my last VMworld Barcelona working in the vCloud Air public cloud business unit, before I transition over to my new role in the Cloud Service Provider BU. You can read about that in a seperate post. VMware vCloud Air has some awesome sessions this year and I would actively encourage all of you to see these sessions if you can get in. New role at VMware – Senior Technologist
I have now been at VMware for nearly seven years, and I still love every day. I am pleased to announce that I am taking on a new role at VMware – I am joining the Cloud Provider Services Business Unit also known as vCloud Air Network as a Senior Technologist. This is a new and exciting time for me. Having spent the last three years working in VMware’s vCloud Air public cloud as the lead evangelist, I now have the opportunity to expand the horizons and work with VMware’s 4000+ service providers around the globe while continuing in the cloud area. In my new role the focus is to provide guidance into the core product teams, with direction on strategy and go-to-market initiatives.
